Jackpot is a slot machine game written by Joyce Weisbecker circa June 20, 1974, for the Flexible Recreational Educational Device, or FRED - an early home computer prototype initially built by her father at home in 1970 and iterated upon for several years after. FRED became an officially sanctioned RCA project in 1971, and eventually it led to the development of the 1802 processor, the RCA Studio II game console, and kit computers such as the Cosmac Elf and the VIP.

Jackpot itself plays similar to the minigame in Super Mario Bros 2. You spend a dollar to spin the slots, and push a button to stop one of the lines. If you run out of money, you lose; if you get $50, the "house" is out of money and you win the game.

Jackpot was discovered alongside numerous other early computer programs on cassette tapes held at the College of New Jersey's Sarnoff Collection, and footage was recorded off the Emma 02 emulator. Accession information: The Sarnoff Collection at TCNJ, S.572.58
