Free Tabletop RPG Map Making: Modular Space Ship
In this video we are making modular room components for a SCI-FI tabletop RPG with Dungeon Painter Studio. The idea is that having the rooms made prior allows for more possibilities when creating ships in the future and the design can be varied greatly using the same core components.
We will demonstrate in the video each room below being made and then at the end of the video take all of the rooms and combine them and make hatches and/or walkways to get from room to room to be used a table top setting in the future or online.
In this particular video we have made a ship that is something between a gunship and a corvette. Max Crew compliment would be sixteen, and Minimum would be four. This particular ship was designed to fill multiple roles, but leans towards combat. This is in part due to having two forward torpedo launchers, and two dual cannon projectile batteries.
Four combat thrusters make this ship extremely maneuverable, but the ship will have a low combat speed due to only having two main engines. Again, this is not a fighter or interceptor but instead it functions more like bottom tier ship of war like modern day destroyers.
Cargo bays can be repurposed for troop or cargo transport. Mild to moderate research can be preformed aboard as well. The Armory will help keep the crew armed during conflicts or boarding attempts and the flow to the bridge is designed to prevent invaders or pirates from taking the key portions of the ship without taking the bridge.
