I was having a discussion with a friend about electronic music. She made the argument that electronic music requires a lot of talent etc. I said that not so much, that all you need is to be familiar with how beats work, specially if we're talking about mixing. The conversation was prompted by an image of a DJ which read "come see my laptop perform live". I suggested that I would then make some electronic music, because why not?
This is the result of about an hour's worth of work. I used a Fruity Loops demo and some stock footage from OrangeHD.
The song and video are a statement themselves (sort of). It starts out with what appears to be an honest attempt at making a track (and with matching video of lights and rain - a thing that seems to be "a thing" in techno videos), then there is a sigh like "argh I'll just throw some sounds together", followed by a minute or so of electronic music set to a beat. It ends abruptly, just like my desire to continue. Because, you know, yea.
*Note: No music from popular artists was sampled. Only the default sounds that come bundled with Fruity Loops were used.
