Free version for Windows Office applications released!
Microsoft drew attention with an important development. It quietly released a free version for Microsoft Office for Windows that allows you to edit your documents without needing a Microsoft 365 subscription or license key. However, these versions unfortunately have limited features. Permanent ads are displayed in Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
According to the latest information, users will soon be able to access the free version of Office applications. However, one of the limitations of this version is that it restricts saving files to OneDrive and does not support editing local files.
In addition, since various advanced features such as add-on integration, voice dictation, advanced formatting and SmartArt are locked, this option will only be ideal for basic editing tasks.
To access the free version, it will be enough to ignore the login prompt that appears when you open one of the Office applications. In this way, you will be able to continue using the programs for free. But of course, you will be able to benefit from this service with some restrictions and constant advertising.
Microsoft has not made an official announcement about this new version for now. Some users report that they still cannot access the version. This suggests that the company may be conducting limited testing in some regions. It is not yet known whether this free alternative will be made available globally or whether it will remain in the testing phase.
