Another twofer, this is the twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth mission of Descent: Freespace - The Great War. A group of Vasudan scientists crash-landed on Altair IV after their escape pod lost power following a Shivan attack. On the surface they discovered the remains of a long-dead civilization, a sealed repository of some sort, and clear evidence that this ancient civilization was destroyed by the Shivans, as improbable as that seems considering the age of the remains. Our mission is to rescue them, and whatever information or technology is in their sealed cache. To this end, we are attacking a weak point in the Shivan lines: A jump node guarded only by a single cruiser, the Zenith. Our fighters have been equipped with intersystem jump drives, and we will receive new orders once the cruiser has been destroyed.
