FRUSTRATION | Gameplay #23 | Call of Duty: Mobile
(The following rant is from the perspective of a player that has grinded camos from the introduction of Gunsmith to present day.)
When you queue up and play Call of Duty: Mobile, anything can happen.
Depending on how you play this game, you get different amounts of enjoyment. Do you play it just for fun, or improve and dominate in Ranked? Or you're one of the many people like me, going for camouflages for weapons, that you sure as heck know, will not be using after the grind the done?
There are numerous reasons why I decided to stop recording my road to all Diamond after I had completed the last weapon that was released on launch... Laziness is definitely one of them (sorry, not sorry), but there are... some darker ones.
When you play CoDM matches to grind camos and things do not go smoothly, something... can be felt inside you. Like a kettle, boiling water, intense pressures. You can physically feel it. Disappointment. Frustration. Anger. You know full well that half of the things that happen in that match may be in vain if someone decides to just go no holds bar. Yet, there's nothing you can do, but watch as countless K9s, predator missiles and choppers turn your progress into none. The feelings keep on piling up.
Countless times have I seen on forums like Reddit where the community have asked for things we want to see, but never gotten. It's almost as if they wanted us to deal with these external factors on our grind, rather than having an alternate option or solution to ease the pain. A Barebones game mode, progress stacking on Diamond, and more. But what have ever gotten? Another QQ9 blueprint.
In the end, what really happens to us? After the frustration sets, burnout. I used to frequent CoDM, playing every single day, clocking at least 5 matches minimum and can go up to about 15 maximum. Now? On days where I am free, you'll be lucky to even see me clock 3 matches. Hell, sometimes I wouldn't even play because I know how it will end.
So, what am I trying to convey with this passage?
This game is not for the faint of heart, but if you don't mind getting shut down in every match, and just enjoy the gameplay, then sure, you can and should try this game out, it's not the best looking game, certainly not when compared to other full scale titles, but it's an interesting experience to say the least.
But if you are looking for a game to settle down and play long term, or have already tried this game before, I don't think I can recommend it anymore to you, at least for now. Sure, I'm not as good as professional players, but as an average level completionist, this isn't enjoyable. This is hell.
This is a very long rant huh... Guess I needed to let it out of my system.
Though much of it wasn't really untrue, in the gameplay I have coupled with this, you can see my playstyle gradually shift from calm and organized to erratic and fueled by rage. Evidently proving that the more I played continuously, the more stressful I get. There's inevitably going to be some genius spewing BS like "skill issue", so I'll just get this out of the way.
One more thing, screw you people that raze FFA lobbies like it's ranked.
If you're wondering how I play this game:
Player Type: Completionist, I grind camos, end of story.
Preferred Mode: Free For All, fastest mode to end while getting consistent progress on grind. Anything stated below mainly applies to this mode only.
Preferred Maps: No specific map, unless I am going for Gold challenges, then you will see me frequent Crossfire (longshots) or Shipment (multi kills).
Fighting Style: Warrior/Samurai, I won't use suppressors if the weapon isn't pitifully weak or does not need it, if I'm going to take you down, I'm announcing (using my gun, not in game chat) that I'll take you the hell down. I also do not use killstreaks and Op Skills, if I have to use them for missions, I will take them to TDM, otherwise it's 20 gun kills, period.
(This will definitely make people send some flak my way, but...)
People I don't like to fight against: Cheap kill items spammers (K9s), alternative method grinders (using skills and streaks for the sake of ending the match faster to get 1 progress). Hate is a strong word, but I seriously do not like fighting against you people.
