FSW - Career Mode Beta and farewell flight
5Since DTG cancelled the project recently I'm taking a look at an unfinished feature - Carrer Mode. In it you select your base of operations, name your company and "take off" to earn cash and respect.
On this flight we take the Malibu for a maintenance to Winningen. And it really needs a maintenance - cool thing is that on such flights failures are very common place as we witness just before take off. Probabaly I should abort this flight after one of the magnetos failed but where's challange in that?
Kudos for the dev team for all they done and I would love to see what they could have achieved if the work would continue on this sim. Sadly we will never know. I don't want to dwell on the subject of the cause of the demise of FSW, if it was poor marketing on part of DTG or maybe spreading misinformation by some of the 3rd party devs and the community. I guess the fault lies somewhere in the middle. The fact is that we lost potentially good flight sim. It wasn't perfect but for the base package we got it was unrivalled. If they just have time to flesh out the career mode, add IFR capability for the user (note that AI uses IFR - just listen to the radio in bad weather) this would have been a blast. There was even an airliner in the works that was scheduled for release this year. We will never get it now.
Sadly we have what we have. Being a flight sim enthusiast is tough these days...
