10I am a huge FTL: Faster Than Light fan. I played the original version about eight years ago and just picked it up again recently with the Advanced Edition now live. I have been relearning the game, and also learning from others on stream and remembering all over again why I thought this game was so amazing years ago. In this 2023 Guide to FTL for Complete Beginners, I start a brand new run with the starter ship: The Kestrel. I will walk you through every aspect of the FTL's UI, Controls, Fundamentals, some tips and tricks, and play through the game and discuss my thought process so you can fully understand the game and develop your own strategy. There is no one way to play this great game, and you often must take what you are given and make the best of it--in true roguelike fashion--so understanding the basics is a the best way to make progress and work toward learning the game, winning, and unlocking new ships!
