My thoughts, by timestamp:

2:16 : game starts

14:36 : really boring fight ends

15:45 : I should have jumped to the beacon containing a ship before going to the store. I needed only 11 more scrap to afford the breach missile at the store, and missing the missile here was a HUGE mistake that nearly cost me the game (or at least would have made the game a hell lot more of a headache).

16:20 : Given my mistake at 15:45, I SHOULD have sold my mantis pheromones here and gotten the missile launcher. The mantis pheromones are merely convenient, whereas having some kind of bomb or missile weapon is essential.

19:02 : I say that "If your oxygen runs out, you're really screwed." What I mean by this is that if your oxygen runs out AND YOUR O2 SYSTEM IS DAMAGED, then you're screwed. For this reason, if the enemy destroys your O2 system during a fight, you need to be VERY careful about staying on the enemy ship too long.

27:42 : SERIOUSLY DAT ASTEROID

39:53 : That is actually a mini beam, not a pike beam.

42:45 : I didn't need to use an offensive drone here. The halberd beam would have been fine, and I did end up hurting for drone parts later.

44:05 : yes, it WOULD have been smarter to go to the store straightaway. I really need to maximize my store finds to improve my odds of getting that missile launcher!

44:50 : I should have just avoided this fight. It cost 2 drone parts and took a long time -- not really worth the reward.

46:33 : yeah, putting another bar into the weapon system beforehand would have been smart. I had plenty of scrap to make some prophylactic upgrades and still have enough to buy cloaking at the store.

52:45 : from an optimal gameplay perspective, I SHOULD have jumped to this store. I had the scrap to buy a missile launcher (possibly selling the boarding drone if needed), and if the rebels catch you at the exit it is really NOT a big deal. Notice also that I had jumped to the store right away at 43:37, I would have been able to visit this store no problem.

53:39 : this would have been a nice time to sell that stupid FTL recharge booster.

55:35 : selling 12 was too aggressive here. I should have been content to sell 6 -- that way I would never have needed to buy any more.

57:10 : "When you fight a slaver, by the way, and you kill him..." When I say "kill him" here, what I mean is kill the crew. If you damage the ship, the slavers will (in my experience) ALWAYS surrender and offer you a slave in exachange for sparing their lives

59:34 : by letting my mantises get that low, I took an unnecessary risk: if the asteroids had gotten through the shields and hit the cloak room, I would have lost both mantises. Small chance of that happening, yes, but don't take unnecessary risks!

1:07:47 : "With the medbay here, I am almost certainly not going to be able to kill that crew before the missile fires." [Proceeds to waste drone and kill crew before the missile fires.] In situations like this, it's best to save the drone until you see the missile actually launch. Also, considering the missile only had a 20% chance of hitting (after cloak) and I was short on drones, I should have taken my chances with the missile regardless.

1:27:30 : I say that you can beat the boss "with no weapons at all." This isn't exactly true. You *can* kill the final boss with just drones, but that's PROVIDED you can teleport your crew onto the mothership and hack down their shield. But to do that, you need the enemy crew to be dead -- and to do *that,* you need to take out the medbay. What I should have said is that you don't need *much* weaponry to defeat the mothership. For example, I can confidently say that, barring terrible luck, I can beat the final boss with a single ion bomb (1 weapon bar). It'll just take longer.

1:27:50 : the automated reloader would have been handy to pick up here. The faster weapon charging speed would have made the final battle just a bit quicker.

1:48:01 : This is why the defense drone isn't all the valuable against the final boss. One application of a level 3 cloak is sufficient to duck the first barrage of missiles, and you can kill the missile launcher before it has time to fire again.
