Starting off in familiar territory being the desert city of Lior, "Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir" shifts from its original anime source material into a story of its own, being as soon as chapter 1. Long ago, in the ancient city of Lebis, a power known Grand Arcanum created servants out of soil called 'Golems'. The king of the civilization use the Grand Arcanum continually to try and bring back his wife, the queen of Lebis. After he finally succeeded, the queen golem wreck havoc, commanding all golems do the same and within a single night, the prospering, revolutionary civilization disappeared.
In present day, history is appearing to repeat itself as the dolls of clay mentioned before terrorize once again. Edward and Alphonse Elric take it upon themselves to discover the mystery behind the black monsters that abduct humans in an instant. What do these monsters mean? who is the one or thing creating them in modern day? It all goes back to the cursed creation of the crimson elixir.
