Well my camcorder finally arrived today, so while I charge its battery and eventually do some test runs with it here's a crappy tune on the ZX Spectrum altered by me to sound....I wouldn't say better but rather easier on the ears.

Future Knight was a game released in 1986 by Gremlin Graphics. It was released on the Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, MSX and my beloved ZX Spectrum....and it's the Spectrum version I'll be focusing on here as it contains one of the worst title tunes known to mankind.

The music was composed by the legendary Ben Daglish, who was more famed for his C64 music, and this very tune is one of the reasons why his Speccy music isn't so famous. While the C64 tune isn't so great for SID standards, the original 128K ZX Spectrum version was awful! The pitch was WAY too high and it would frankly make your ears bleed if you listened to it with headphones. It is without question one of the worst tunes on a 128K Spectrum ever.

Here I have lowered the pitch exactly 100% so that it's lower than the Amstrad version. It's still not very good but it's a lot easier on the ears compared to the original. It's safe to say though this was an off-day for one of the best-loved composers of the 8-bit home computer era.

OCTOBER 5, 2018 - So heartbroken to have learned just now of the passing of Ben Daglish from complications of lung cancer at the age of just 52 on October 1st. Rest in Peace Ben.
