Future Redeemed is Perfect PART 4 | Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Lore #shorts
It’s official, the Xenoblade has ended
Well… The Klaus arc has anyway with the release of Future Redeemed. So many questions now answered and also the ending is kinda perfect not gonna lie. Let’s discuss.
Spoiler warning again
The final battle begins with the 4 founders and their two leaders taking on Alpha and attempting to free Na’el, it’s quite a fun fight actually, but I’m a sucker for fighting humanoid characters, especially characters from previous games using a series staple weapon - near the end of the fight, Alpha, uses Matthew’s turmoil to suck him in, speaking to him softly, convincing him to step forward and embrace the new world, that is until N steps in and frees both Matthew and Na’el from his grasp, this is vital as this is the same trick they used on Na’el originally so if N didn’t step it, Matthew would’ve more than likely been a goner too.
Alpha goes into their phase 2, transforming into a massive godly being and takes on the heroes… and N
With no signs of going down, Alpha goes for a final blow on Rex but is quickly stopped by N again.
To end this all, N grants Matthew the ability to use his Sword of The End and instructs him to use his Fists of The End on the blade - here we see something real cool, we see Matthew’s right hand glow green as well as N’s sheath glow purple - we could just chalk it up to it being the Ouroboros’ & Moebius’ power but when Matthew goes to punch the BoTE, his FoTE unequip and actually reveal Pnuema’s core crystal.
With N’s sheath glowing purple, it could be assumed that N also holds Logos’ core crystal within the sheath and since he granted Matthew the ability to use his powers, at this moment and time, Matthew has full access to the Aegises’ power and can control Ontos, or Alpha in this case, and with this power, links himself with the other 6 Ouroboros users to create potentially the true Ouroboros or more likely, Matthew’s Ouroboros form and takes out Alpha.
Once everything is all said and done, we see Shulk, Rex and A start to glow yellow and walk towards the white light gate, this is implied to be origin as A stats that Alpha and themselves are avatars and avatars house the Trinity Processor crystals which currently are in Origin, avatars are essentially beings that watch over the world they’re in, pretty much like Alvis, Malos and Mythra in their respected games but in this case, as Malos is no more, Alvis’ kinda no more and Mythra and Pyra became their own beings and are potentially MIA in Origin, so there are no avatars to take care of the current worlds - this is where Shulk, Rex and A come in, as A is the conscious of Alivs who was the Ontos avatar before the final fight, A will continue to be the said avatar, Rex will more than likely be the Pnuema avatar as he wield the true power of the Aegis as the Master Driver and used the green core crystal throughout Xeno2, which leaves Shulk as Logos’ avatar, quite fitting as Malos is the only Avatar outside of Alvis to use Monado arts like Shulk.
A confirms that the three will be the new avatars and we see Shulk and Rex break the rules already by imbuing both Nikol and Glimmer with their lives so that they can continue to live, despite A’s concern, they let it slide, commenting on how they’ve earned this as a one off after Rex mentions how Pyra and Mythra wouldn’t have batted an eyelid if this happened in front of them, this is a nice nod back to Xenobalde 2 as it was Pyra who used part of her lifeforce to bring Rex back to life, so he’s essentially paying it forward here.
The three warn the rest of the group of Z’s plans and how the trio need to keep the world up - since they’ll be out of action, “someone else has to pick up the slack”, that someone will be Noah as we’ve come to find out.
After this, Origin goes down into the ocean and the gang continue with the mission of rebuilding The City and Matthew Vandham, rebuilding the world.
From this point on the rest of the story is told from the base game and we’re actually told what’s happened to the Founders through that:
Nikol used his immense skill in mechanical engineering to lay out the foundations of all the supporting mechanical systems that the City uses now before passing away at age 80
Glimmer used her skills in healing arts to greatly contribute in the medical science development within the City before passing away beyond the age of 80 - how she lived beyond 80 is still a mystery to everyone but she potentially developed a rejuvenation art or something that kept her living for so long.
Not much is said about Panacea or Linka as they’ve used their founder spots to pay homage to both Shulk and Rex, their statues describe how they were as well as how both saw their mentors, so it can be assumed that both continued to assist the other founders wherever they could via the Liberators service while continuing to carry both Shulk’s and Rex’s ideals and their duties.
