In 1980, Brøderbund released their first game. Brøderbund would later be famous for such classic games as Choplifter, Karateka, Prince of Persia, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, and many others. Galactic Empire, however, would never gain fame - even though it was arguably the direct inspiration for the entire 4x genre, including such games as Master of Orion.
