Galaga (Final Version) - C64 Gameplay
94Originally released in 1981 for arcade machines, this space shooter has been given a Commodore 64 version with great artwork.
Overcoming some of the technical limitations of the Commodore 64, such as lower screen resolution, the programmer has managed to create a game very similar to the original version, and almost equal in all aspects - graphics, sound effects and gameplay - that everyone should try.
The aim of each stage of the game is to defeat all the alien (Galaga) creatures that come in various shapes from the top and sides of the screen. This feature is very similar to an earlier game (Galaxions), in that the attack is made by falling and shooting towards the player's spaceship. On top of the enemy formation are large aliens known as "Boss Galaga", which require two shots to destroy. They must be particularly careful, as they can come down and use a special laser beam to hijack the player's spaceship. The abducted spaceship can still be recovered, which arrives alongside the newly received spaceship to give it extra firepower.
