(Redo of an old upload with better visual and audio quality)

An awesome and relatively unknown vertical scrolling shoot em up from indie developer MASA_HG for the PC. First released in 2003, a later update was made in 2012, with added updated music and sound effects which is the version I am playing here.

The story is straightforward: On the planet Wigert, the inhabitants create a supercomputer called "Xenon". Unfortunately, one day, "Xenon" goes crazy, takes control of all global defense systems and, in the process, commits global genocide. However, a lone ship (Galax Class Fighter) has not come under Xenon's control and sets out on a mission to save humanity and stop Xenon.

Apart from the standard weapon and bomb, the Galax fighter has a unique hacking based targeting system that, after entering a sequence of specific commands, will let you do a number of things to the enemy:

Yellow Targeting: Temporary time stop/freeze: Enemies/Bosses stop attacking for a short while.
Purple Targeting: An Instant kill attack (can not be used on most bosses)
Blue Targeting: GalaX takes temporary control of a hacked enemy, joining you in attacking other enemies also(!)
This to me, is what makes the game so innovative and fun to play. I don't think I've ever come across a shmup game that uses this kind of game mechanic before in a shmup. And for an indie game, the visuals, action and music is pretty sweet.

Here, I do a full playthrough of the game from start to end. Apologies if I die a lot, but I am improving slowly lol.

This is probably one of the best shmup titles I've played in a while. If your a fan of shmup games and are looking for something different from a shmup. I highly recommend you give this a try.
