Wonderboy III:The Dragons Trap (1989,Sega Master System):Part 1.
(Re-upload as the previous video didn't turn out right....)
Its been a while since I did a Sega Master System game on my channel, and because its cold, wet and windy outside, I thought id play a feel good, classic game I use to own waaayyy back in the days as a kid to warm my spirits.
WonderBoy 3: The Dragons Trap is a single player only action/adventure platform game released in 1989 for the Master System. It was developed by Westone and published by Sega. The game has been highly praised for its overall presentation and style. The game has also had different incarnations under various different home gaming consoles. In Japan, it was released for the PC Engine and was renamed Adventure Island. While in North America, the game was released for the TurboGrafx 16, where it was retitled as Dragons Curse.
Story wise, WonderBoy 3 takes place directly after the events of WonderBoy in Monster Land (the games opening is the final dungeon from that game. Pretty Neat!). Having slayed the wicked Mecha Dragon, the Dragon Lord, with its final breath, spews a curse that transforms our hero into a fire breathing Lizard creature. Seemingly doomed to spend eternity as a lizard man, WonderBoy then recalls a tale told to him as a young child of a powerful artefact, the legendary Salamander Cross, that has the power to grant wishes...However, he must locate and defeat the remaining five Dragon Lords of Monster World in order to see which of them possesses the cross..
This is one of the first games I ever owned and one of the rare instances where I would play it over and over again. Apart from the visuals and music, I loved the open world exploration element. From deserts, to the ocean, the Monster World is vast. I also love the dragon boss battles as each dragon had there own attack styles.
Here, I play as WonderBoy's three transformations: Hu-Man, Lizard-Man and Mouse-Man and battle three of the boss dragons; Mecha Dragon: Mechanical Monster, Mummy Dragon; Lord of the Desert World and Zombie Dragon, Lord of the Jungle World.
