Gallop Racer 2004 (ギャロップレーサー ラッキー 7) FULL BGM
Hey y'all, I've been in a horse racing mood lately. So here's the full BGM to one of my favorite video games, Gallop Racer 2004. I grew up playing the Gallop Racer games as a kid and I have a lot of nostalgia for them. I still have all the PS2 games to this day and it's a comfort game of mine. Especially now that horse racing has become a popular topic on the internet as of late (because of a certain game/anime involving horse girls), I figured now would be the perfect time to show my love for this series by sharing its BGM, since there's not a lot of it on YouTube. All rights belong to Koei Tecmo. Enjoy!

P.S. In Gallop Racer, you play the role as the jockey taking control of the horse during races, meaning you have to pay attention to their strengths and weaknesses, the position they like to run in, how many meters (or furlongs in English versions) they like to run, whether they're good on Turf or Dirt, and what abilities they have. Some abilities like Stretch Burst (when a horse has one last spurt before the finish), Strong Heart (when a horse has a stronger desire to win), and Frontrunner (where a horse excels at the front of the pack) are good, while others like Bears (when a horse will go wild from whipping too much), Delicate (when a horse is too sensitive to making contact with other horses), and Close Race NG (when a horse struggles against head to head duels near the finish) are bad. There are more abilities than these in the game, but all that matters is that you pay attention to the horse's needs for the best possible results in each race.
P.P.S. Similar to Uma Musume, the racehorses in the Gallop Racer games are all based on real life horses from Japan, America, Europe, etc. In the English versions, they go by original names instead of their real names to avoid copyright, but horses like Tokai Teio, Oguri Cap, El Condor Pasa, Taiki Shuttle, Grass Wonder, Special Week, T M Opera O, Narita Brian, Symboli Rudolf, Silence Suzuka, Mejiro McQueen, Tamamo Cross, Sakura Bakushin O, Rice Shower, Hishi Amazon, Stay Gold, as well as popular horses such as Seabiscuit, Secretariat, Man O'War, War Admiral, Affirmed, Alydar, Sunday Silence, Easy Goer, Seattle Slew, Cigar, Citation, Ruffian, Dubai Millennium, Montjeu, Better Loosen Up, Phar Lap, Lammtarra, and many more appear in the Gallop Racer series too, although most of them you have to unlock by playing the Career Mode.
P.P.P.S. It's also worth noting that modern fan favorites such as Gold Ship, American Pharaoh, Kitasan Black, Zenyatta, Orfevre, Sea the Stars, Gentildonna, and Frankel do not appear in any of the Gallop Racer games because the games up until Gallop Racer 2006 were too old for them to be included, since the horses weren't even born yet at the time. All of these horses, however, do appear in the Nintendo Switch Japanese exclusive game Champion Jockey Special, which has the horse roster updated up until 2017. I've been playing a lot of Champion Jockey Special on my Switch 2 and it's a blast to play despite the language barrier. The game even has a Quest Challenge mode where you play the careers of specific horses including Tokai Teio, Sakura Bakushin O, Sunday Silence, Sea the Stars, Mejiro McQueen, Taiki Shuttle, El Condor Pasa, and more, choosing specific races as a "what if?" scenario. I'm sure you'll find your favorite horses in this game as well.
P.P.P.P.S. I'm hoping to post a link in the future to showcase the horses featured in Gallop Racer (and other horses outside of GR) as well as the Original names that they go by compared to their real life counterparts. I might not get all of them, but I'll at least get the popular ones.
