3Detached from the sophistry of church, the City of Saphira found purchase in a different dogma: one where the value of life is readily quantified in coin. Mercenary companies trade fealty to the highest bidder, and Gallows and Gold is a tale of six such soldiers of fortune.
An alchemist, a thrill-seeker, a dancer, a pugilist, a summoner, and a faithful of the Ontvanti Ancients are called upon by the Abacus mercenary company to investigate the cataclysm at Dagon's Rest. Here, science has profaned the natural order: flesh flowers in the fields, alchemy births unlife, and clockwork hearts beat in unwilling chests. Bearing their grievances, they flee from a monster of reckless knowledge that propagates without conscience; nothing is forbidden.
