Game Boy Color Motion Controls (Zok Zok Heroes) - Today In Retro

Today In Retro is a new series on my channel where I go in-depth about some of the most well-known & obscure retro gaming topics! For today's video we're talking a unique Japan-only Game Boy Color game called Zok Zok Heroes. The game has a very unique gimmick that involves motion controls & the Game Boy Color IR functionality.

Zok Zok Heroes was released on August 4th, 2000 for the Game Boy Color & published by Media Factory. It’s a Japan-only turn-based RPG game, based on Japanese morphing superheroes. Zok Zok heroes uses a toy peripheral called the “Full Charger” (that came bundled with the game) which is used to transform into different heroes/forms in the game via motion controls. This is the game’s main feature and gimmick, and potentially why it’s so obscure.
