Update 4/9/21: What you can do as a work around, is do this. Put the map in an area where you can't get around it, you are forced to collect it. Example, a narrow hallway, then collect it, once you find a key to open a door or something.

Note: Tried to fix glitch, not sure how to fix it. So the issue is that when you go to the next room, the map is not there, until you collect it. That works great, but when you load the game to the next room, the map is there, before you collect the map. Not sure how to fix it. Tried to make the map persistent, so it would appear in next room, without collecting map, but it does not work.
