Gameboy Game: Qix (1990 Nintendo)(Super Gameboy Version)
An action-puzzle game where in order to establish your area, you must direct a marker that must draw rectangles and other strange objects. You can draw these rectangles quickly or slowly. You get the most points when you draw the rectangles the "slow" way. To indicate that you have taken control of your territory, a rectangle will be created and then colored in. You must be aware of Qix (pronounced "kicks"), which are colored lines that move across the screen as you draw the rectangles. Apart from Qix, you also have to stay away from The Fuse, who follows the line you are drawing, and the Sparks, who circle the border and any lines you have drawn. You advance to the next level if you have sufficiently occupied the area.
By default, the player has three lives, and the main completion threshold is 75%.
Additionally, Link Cable offers a player vs player game in which Luigi is the second player and Mario is the first. Whereas loss displays a depressing animation, victory displays a brief animated cheer.
The size of the region captured determines how many points are awarded. The value of slow draws is double that of fast ones. The player receives an additional 1000 extra points for every percentage above the cutoff. If a stage is ended by splitting two Qix, any bonus points above the threshold for the subsequent stage will be tripled; if three Qix are split, the extra points will be quadrupled. Instead, if 99% of the playfield is captured, 50,000 points are given.
Pressing B will display high scores on the title screen, which are only saved when the console is turned on.
After reaching four point thresholds, the player receives an additional life, and no additional lives can be obtained in any other way:
