GameCube Support Highlights Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct!
2GameCube, Mario Kart World, AND third party support for the Switch 2 ? Good news indeed. Let's be optimistic for a change and share some excitement! Nintendo's Direct promoted the Switch 2, a simple reiteration of what's come before, which actually is uncommon! Gamecube support marks the biggest change in generations, giving an older and brand new generation of gamers a chance to indulge themselves in an amazing, underappreciated Nintendo gaming library!
What are your impressions of Mario Kart world? It looks like the racer that has something for everyone, from the globe trotting secret finders to ultra competitive kart racing in the new knock out mode challenge. Hopefully this justifies the new 80 dollar price Nintendo wants to establish, as well as the maybe up to 500 dollar base switch game once Tariff impacts are included! What a time we live in!
4K Support, 120 FPS and a 1080p handheld screen display all help game developers breathe a bit easy when deciding whether the ports, especially of third party games, will be able to run on the new handheld/console hybrid. While it won't pack the oomph of traditional PS5 or Xbox consoles, there's an entire 'best selling' history behind the Switch 2s predecessor to ensure companies like Capcom and Square are buying into Nintendo's next big console push.
Dusk Bloods looks absolutely bizarre, but a fun multiplayer versus game for those who enjoy the Bloodborne series.
There were some disappointments. Where the heck is Smash Bros? Its MIA, because Mashahiro Sakurai is in deep developing/directing the remake of Kirby's Air Ride, a maligned GameCube title that failed to make an impact. Not only is Smash Bros missing, but there's not even any real 'Mario' successor, despite Super Mario Odyssey releasing EIGHT years ago! Donkey Kong is a solid franchise, but it can't compare to a new Mario release.
