Hace 29 años, se lanzó en América The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Es un juego de acción aventura con elementos RPG desarrollado y publicado por Nintendo para el SNES.
La trama de Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past se centra en Link mientras viaja para salvar Hyrule, vencer a Ganon y rescatar a las doncellas relacionadas a los Sabios. A Link to the Past usa una perspectiva de ¾ desde arriba, similar al The Legend of Zelda original, dejando la vista de lado de The Legend Of Zelda: II The Adventure Of Link. The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past contiene elementos para la serie que son comunes hoy, como el concepto de mundo alterno o paralelo, la Master Sword y otras armas y objetos. Tanto los jugadores como los críticos han comentado de las similitudes entre A Link To The Past y la secuela de Nintendo 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, con algunos refiriéndose como “remake espiritual”.

Un sucesor del juego, titulado The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, fue lanzado para Nintendo 3DS en noviembre de 2013.
