The DISCover Game Console was ahead of its time with the idea of streaming games to the console (hence, "Disc Over", which is also a play on the word "Discover"). GamePlasma got a preview of the DISCover gaming technology which allowed PC games to be played on computers like a video game console. Digital Interactive Systems Corporation (DISC) features their "Drop and Play" engine which auto-played CDs or DVDs and automated installation and patching of games. An Internet connection is required to use the engine on a gaming PC such as the Apex Extreme or the (now defunct) Alienware lines.
