(I believe this might be the first video game I have ever played, though my mom believes it was a Pajama Sam game on PC)
Elmo lost his blanket and must dive into Oscar the Grouch's trash can, which goes to Grouchland, to retrieve it. Based on the Sesame Street movie Elmo in Grouchland, the game takes the player, or Elmo, through six normal platformer levels and two unique platformers. While one involves the descent into Grouchland, the other involves riding a mine cart. This game takes the player from Sesame Street to Huxley's House. The player can play with or without sound effects, with or without music, and in easy or hard mode.
When starting the game, the player starts with three lives. He/she can gain many extra lives throughout the game. If all lives are lost, the player can either choose to continue with three more lives or choose to go straight to the Game Over screen and credits. After the player loses all lives three times, chooses to end the game, or completes all eight stages, the game is concluded.
