And here is a review about it ... now to find the demo from this game to show it to you ... i know i had it ... somewhere

(info from a user calling himself sweetpepper)
a couple years ago, there was a bunch of fuss about a German company called "discreet monsters" making a game based on the Neverending Story and it was supposed to be amazing: non-linear, whatever you make it story line, adventure/quest, absolutely NOT hack-and-slash.

i thought it sounded wonderful. (if you think the Neverending Story is just a 80s kids movie, read the BOOK)*

but it was delayed and delayed and the company eventually folded.

then the founder of discreet monsters bought the rights to the game, and some of the work they had completed, and started another company called Attaction. and they worked for 6 months and spat out a Neverending story game called Auryn Quest which is NOTHING like what the Real Neverending Story was going to be.

they call it a "run-and-jump" adventure. i downloaded a demo and it's sort of like a 1st person Mario...you have to jump on platforms and pick up floating balls of fire to get to the next level. i take it there are puzzles of some sort, but i haven't got that far in the demo. again, completely non-violent (which isnt a big deal to me, but i think it's an interesting thing for a game company to set out to do)*

from my experience with the demo(a lot of falling in lava while attempting to run-and-jump, and only one person to talk to so far, who had a fixed speech and i couldn't respond to him at all), i'm thinking Auryn Quest(and two planned sequels) isn't that interesting, but i'm wondering if i should buy it anyway to support the company in the hopes that EVENTUALLY they will complete the Real Neverending Story??!!

or maybe someone with better run-and-jump skills can finish the demo and tell me if anything interesting happens?? smile i'm not used to playing with mouselook so it's slow going for me.
