WHAT WOULD I RECOMMEND?
Depends on price-point. Since I've had some bad experiences with mice that get seemingly very favourable reviews, I wouldn't like to advise you just based off of things that I've read. I would say that the Logitech G500s would be a safe choice. It's new and (probably) very reliable. Very high spec from a reputable company. £40ish?
If you can't afford that, go for the Sharkoon Fireblade (£23), a mouse that amazed me with its quality. It's like a Razer but without the high price and (so far) without any of the problems. I am unable to recommend anything above or below these price-points due to limited experience.

I hope that this video has still been informative and educational (and hopefully entertaining) and has given you some original insight into things, since it's all based off of my experiences. As usual I'm making this video in case I ever suddenly forget everything I know and want to get back into the riding seat as soon as possible.

There may be other decent cheap mice but I have no knowledge or experience of them. Razer mice are the ones I enjoy using the most. They're so flashy and expensive-feeling! Sadly, they've never lasted that long and I don't think I know anybody who's not had a problem with them. Steelseries make incredibly bland looking expensive mice, think Microsoft mouse but 10x the price. They're meant to be no-frills but reliable and very precise. Kind of like that quiet kid in the corner who could secretly beat everybody. My Corsair M60 has the same sensor as the old Logitech G9x which was meant to be very reliable, kind of wish I had tried that one instead. I haven't had the chance to try the Rokkat Kone, was a bit afraid that since it was 8200 DPI that it was using the same sensor as the Anker but apparently it doesn't. The Cyborg Rat mice (Awesome name, and completely adjustable in every area so you can get it to custom-fit your hand) get good reviews.

Owned mice:
* Numerous low-DPI cheap mice
* Nyko Airflo mouse - Lololololol. Brought it to school and wire eventually came apart from mouse. It was so cool.
* Razer Diamondback - Great mouse, lasted for years, buttons ended up getting horribly squeaky but I believe still worked until my sister finally broke it from years of wear and tear, cable finally snapping internally.
* Razer Copperhead - Flashier, but about the same as the Diamondback. Right mouse button became unresponsive and intermittent.
* Logitech MX518 - Scroll occasionally gets stiff but then goes back to normal again. Emits a high-pitched squeak at all times (Put ear to front of mouse). Slightly less DPI than I'd like for desktop use but apart from that a perfect mouse.
* Logitech M500 wireless - I believe it was 800 DPI. Seemed okay for a month but then sensor refused to work on anything other than a Steelseries mouse-pad. Not recommended.
* Corsair M60 - Mouse buttons too sensitive for my liking, scroll button stopped working and sniper button quickly lost icon and became loose and rattly.
* Sharkoon Fireblade - No problems to date, but scroll wheel melted from sister's straighteners. I'll let it off for that.
* Anker 8200 - Flashy and luxurious in every way, but laser suffers from mouse smoothing. Real shame :(
* Anker wireless 2000 DPI mouse - No mouse smoothing issues, but slight delay, making it bad for games.

*Logitech G700s - WTF it always misses its target by 20 or so degrees! And no, it's not angle snap. AVOID
