Gaming the Game Vs Experiencing the Game| D&D Discussions
It can be hard to separate the D&D game from the D&D story when playing tabletop role-playing games. We try to become these characters while playing the game through role play, but without a true emotional connection and knowing you are still playing game can really make it a challenge. Then there is the fact that some gamers aren't even interested in an immersive experience. They just wanna roll funny shaped dice and kill the monsters they encounter in the campaign world. now that is OK too. If that is your fun when it comes to RPGs it's fine. The problem is when you have that play style with a more story based play style than it gets interesting to say the least.
