0:00 Recap
0:26 Facility Prison
We see unwanted Neo Sentients being experimented on and disposed of.
4:49 Garden of Forking Paths
You have to solve a puzzle to activate it, which requires the blood vial from before, Aleph's symbol, and Proto-J's ESP. Unfortunately, Warren's digital ghost hijacks it. Turns out he poisoned himself, but modified it so that he has barely enough time to upload his mind. This gave Walker a false sense of security and caused him to go through with the coup, which made everyone else desperate enough to activate the Garden of Forking Paths. Warren then overwrites certain parts of the current timeline with more favorable outcomes in other timelines. This causes the Fulcrum troops to defeat Coch-Jobb's troops and causes Coch-Jobb's sky city to have a nuclear meltdown. Who cares about civilian deaths? Proto-J uses his psychic powers to buy Karl and Sybil time to escape, but Warren kills him.
Why didn't Karl just swap Karl and Sybil out for their evil versions that we saw in the Heteroclite device? Perhaps he doesn't want to risk compromising his alternate counterparts? On that note, is there a good alternate version of Warren?
25:04 Warren's Ultimatum
Warren has his agents capture Karl and Sybil. At the prison area, he reveals that he captured Karl's wife and kid, and verbally breaks down Karl by revealing the latter was a corrupt cop, cheated on his wife, and killed Vaytron Martin. He tells Karl that the only way to atone is surrender, and in exchange, Warren will give Karl's ex-family a better life. The choice doesn't matter outside of achievements, but the surrender choice seems to be the only one the later dialogue accounts for. How lazy.
IMO, naming the victim Vaytron Martin is probably not the best reference, since Trayvon was shot by a civilian vigilante rather than a cop.
35:37 Karl's Cell
37:14 Refuse the Deal
38:02 Karl's Cell
Turns out Proto-J's consciousness survived on a higher plane and now he can take over electronics. You have to solve a puzzle to break Karl out.
49:54 Breaking Sybil Out
Turns out Warren was never going to free Karl's family no matter what. I guess they're probably dead? But why does Warren need Karl alive in the first place? Maybe he knows Proto-J is still alive and thought Karl would make a good hostage?
