Kind of fun 3D maze exploration game with a fantasy realm motif. Pick from 4 different characters-- The Knight (who slings a ball and chain with a wide radius), The Wizard (a female magician who casts a wave of flames at enemies), The Bard (who swings a trident-looking weapon) and The Ninja (fires shurikens). You can also play a 2-player simultaneous game. Each character can build up a magic meter as they fight enemies or collect certain items dropped from defeated enemies. When the meter is full you can press the MAGIC button to cast a spell-- the different spells rotate as a book's pages flip; you can turn into a hurricane, turn into a giant rolling indestructible ball, turn into a thundercloud and fire lightning bolts, or even turn into a pig (totally useless spell)! There's probably about 10 different spells, and they all drain the magic meter and peter out when it's empty. Probably the coolest part of the game is utilizing the spells. Other items can help you in your quest-- you can collect Speed Up Boots or Stronger Attack Gloves (limited use), or items that can absorb one hit from the enemies. Note that even when using a spell you may still be vulnerable to enemy attack or can accidentally fall to your death off a cliff/into an abyss/into lava. You can also get poisoned (gradual energy drain) or confused (the directions become reversed). One thing I really don't like in this game is the unfair collision detection at times-- you may be facing a boss (where you can't use magic for some damn reason-- something else I'm not fond of), and you'll be standing well above it to the point where you should have plenty of room not to be touching it and taking damage, but you take damage anyway! That's stupid.. other than that, this is not too bad a game and is well worth playing, especially for the cool spells. AKA Dark Seal. Sequel: WIZARD FIRE. Suggested by YouTube user psjedi1.
