In the year 1990 generation 1 of transformers would finally end in the US, but not without one last-ditch attempt to recover. They created a new set of figures known as the action masters. Comprised of both new and classic characters, the whole gimmick of the action masters was they couldn't transform, instead they would come with small animal partners or vehicles that transformed instead. One of the many new characters introduced this year was the decepticon known as treadshot. Even though he couldn't transform his body was molded in a way that you could determine what his alt mode was. Going by his name you would think he transformed into some kind of tank, but that isn't actually the case. He is actually based on a magnum (specifically a transforming magnum toy not even made by takara). He is actually the only new action master character to be based on a preexisting toy (pretty strange right). In 2014 this character would receive a new toy as part of the transformers collectors club subscription service, because making realistic gun toys is illegal in the US they finally gave him an alt mode that fit his name (he was a repaint of the generations warpath toy, which is regarded to be easily one of the best figures of that time). Not bad for such an obscure character.
