GEARS OF WAR 4 REVIEW
The franchise is back and looking better than ever, before I begin the review, I want to point out that I have not played Gears 2 or 3, I have played a little of Gears 1, so this review will be very appealing to newcomers to the series, I will not make any comparisons to the previous games.
The game features a new cast of a younger team, you can choose to play the game solo or co-op, both options will be amazingly fun, guaranteed, co-op may be the better option but to me it did not make a big difference.
The game's story is suprisingly good, I was interested throughout the game, some sections did feel a little repetitive, the mid-game section is probably the weakest part of the game, atleast to me, I found myself more engaged in the beginning and end of the game.
The game features a variety of weapons to use, you can choose up to 2 primary weapons, 1 secondary and a grenade type of choice, these can be replaced by weapons of the same type.
You'll find yourself going against different types of enemies, robots and aliens in their different variations, this is one of the game's weak points in my opinion, the game re-uses the same enemies a bit too often, I got bored of fighting certain enemies for that reason, it took out some fun from the campaign.
Regardless of the smaller flaws, the game overall packs a strong dose of value, you'll get around 8-12hrs of gameplay from the campaign alone, then you can try out the harder difficulty modes or go for collectibles in a new playthrough, you'll want to play the game again, it's an amazingly crafted work of art with a variety of locations, I would stop and observe the environment at times just because of how beautifully the game looks, especially on the PC version, which supports a 4K 60FPS resolution in Ultra Settings.
From start to finish, Gears of War 4 lives up to the hype, it's one of the best games in 2016, if you have an Xbox One or PC, this is a must buy.
The most fun Co-op game of the generation, The Coalition did a wonderful job on the sequel, they delivered what I had doubts they would, a Game of The Year Contender, if you have an Xbox One/PC, waste no time looking at reviews, it's a must have.
