Here is my complete deathless run of the original Japanese version of the game that went on to become Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES. This month marks the 24th anniversary of this game in Japan, as it was released back on May 12, 1989, according to Gamefaqs.com.

While both versions have the same difficulty level, the Japanese version has a sound that was excluded from the NES game. As the Turtles enter their home in the sewer (the cut scene following the underwater dam level), the door makes a sound as it opens up. The same sound is recycled after the Big Mouser boss is defeated and the door slides open to the next area.

Other differences obvious included the change of language, as well as the game being made by Konami in Japan and Ultra in North America, even though Konami actually owns both company names.

Played by Daniel "DTysonator" Teixeira on an original NES console while using a regular controller, a Famicom game converter and absolutely no cheating as always.
