People across the country marked Armistice Day today with a two minute silence.

Forces TV was at the Permanent Joint Headquarters of the UK’s Armed Forces in Middlesex.

It's where some of the most senior ranking members of the Army, Royal Navy, and RAF are based.

They observed the silence with NATO allies who serve at PJHQ alongside them.

The Armistice Day tradition dates back to the First World War, when after more than 4 years of continuous fighting and the loss of 20 million lives, the battlefields finally fell silent.

Immediately after the service our presenter Kater Gerbeau spoke to General Sir Richard Barrons, Commander of Joint Forces Command.
