Something keeps bothering me. Communities like Steam are nauseatingly full of the 'Aryan Mouse+Keyboard Master Race' - people who would perpetuate a console war and very rarely knew what they were on about. Have the computer version of a game? Great. Have a bedroom the space of a submarine crew's cabin? Okay. Want to use a controller for your games because you have no space? Well, fuck you, buddy. You'll have to have your keyboard on your left knee and use your right knee as a mousemat for backstabbing Heavies and sniping Soldiers.
I never did understand why these militant douchebags always insisted that PC is the way to go. I *agree* with them (except in certain cases where the porting is done awfully, such as in Call of Duty: MW2, or when being on a PC makes it easier to cheat, such as in Sonic Generations' Time Trial table; or, again, Modern Warfail 2). But it is sometime too difficult to use a mouse and keyboard other than to talk, because of where your computer is.

I provide my argument for why controllers are better in some cases than mice and keyboards. Geometry Wars 2, the shiniest, epilepsiest shooter you'll see. I played the first one with mouse and keyboard (using an actual desktop, le gasp). And it was unbearable.
FPS/TPS Shooters are better with mice (twitch aiming, sudden turning, etc), I get that. But the argument is too broad, and the proponents too noisy and moronic. Racing games are better with controllers (varying the strength of your throttles/brakes, varying your turning circle). Also flight-sims. So don't treat the other side like they're inferior because they either need to use a controller, or it's just plain better for what they want to use it for.
Where finesse is necessary, controllers fill the gap, with their analogues and their pressures. If you want to move with a keyboard, you can only do so in three speeds (full-sprint, tip-toe, and standstill). You can only move in 45 degree angles, irrespective of your line of sight. You could mitigate this by turning slightly in one direction or the other, but I'd hope you'd be smart or capable enough in real life to be able to move in one direction without having to engage an unrelated function.

All this said, I'd LIKE to get back to using a mouse+keyboard to play. My reflexes can be wicked-quick, but the controller doesn't do me justice. If I could clear this desk off and lower my monitors down the wall a little bit, I'd happily get some wireless peripherals that weren't made very shoddily by Logitech (their MX 3200 wireless equipment is diabolically awful) and play "properly".

Until then, keep your demented hooting to yourselves.
(Also, it has been YEARS since I played this game. A little rusty.)
