Gerry's In Boracay Philippines With My Girlfriend - Sisig, Chicken Wings, And Pancit Noodles VLOG
My girlfriend and I decided to try out Gerry's restaurant while we were in Boracay, Philippines. Quite honestly, there are many other choices of places to eat here during dinner so we were surprised that the restaurant was packed to the point that we had to wait to be seated. We waited approximately 10 - 15 minutes prior to being seated. Was it worth the wait? In my opinion, probably not. We were tired and hungry. Looking at the menu - I wanted sisig and my girlfriend wanted lechon kawali.
It wasn't until we visited other parts of the Philippines when we figured out that Gerry's is a chain. Not that quality / food is necessarily impacted by this, but just stating out the fact.
When we were finally sat down, we started off with a refreshing mango shake. It probably was the best thing in our entire meal. I suggest you look at the menu if you're not familiar with Filipino foods because it has a lot of pictures and may give a better idea of what the food is / will look like when it is served.
My girlfriend wasn't very happy when she tried to order lechon kawali and was told by the waitstaff that they were out. Sooner we'd find out that the table right next to us (who sat down and ordered after us) were served lechon kawali. Needless to say, that was slightly infuriating.
We ordered sisig with garlic rice, chicken wings, and pancit noodles. I love red onions, so that was a welcoming surprise when I found them in my sisig. Not the best sisig I've had, but not the worst either. I'll say that I experienced flavor fatigue much earlier on than I usually would eating this type of food. Towards the end, you can see how much oil was in the sisig. Again - not complaining, just stating out some facts just in case you want to consider ordering this.
Chicken wings were too salty for me which is rare, but my girlfriend liked it. The noodles were probably the worst part of our meal. The shrimp had a weird smell / taste to it and we didn't like the other things in it. Noodles themselves weren't actually that bad, but the components in it - we did not like at all. As you can see, we had a lot of leftovers which should say something about how good the food was. Overall, a pretty mediocre meal and I'd probably try another place if I were to come back to Boracay next time.
