Get HIGH voltage with a MCU - Totem-Pole Variation - 178v NPN
Efficient and more importantly cheap, by using inexpensive NPN high voltage transistor. Not as good as with mosfet (struggling to get higher than 178v even with 300uH+ range inductors, where as with mosfet, easily getting 200v+ with 30uH inductor), but more than good enough for powering a nixie tube or even 4 of them. This is beautiful even more so than using expensive mosfet. More importantly, the driver used to power a cheap NPN, can be used to power an expensive mosfet with even better efficiency, and yes indeed, I have successfully getting 200v+ with a tiny 10uH inductor. 47uH has been used a lot of my other high voltage projects using simple driver comfortably, not it's possible to use 1uH inductor to power a nixie tube clock. There are yet more techniques waiting to be tested to increase the switching speed even more, by means of using a secondary boost stage.
