If I had to pick a favorite Go Nagai mech, I'd probably end up picking the Getter series. It's wilder, the stakes are higher, the designers are cooler, and you can't go wrong where the bad guy staples are Oni and Dinosaur people, in addition to all their giant robots.
Getter Arc really impressed me when it was first getting serialized prior to Ken Ishikawa's death. I haven't gotten to watch the animated version of it, and despite hearing less than stellar reviews about it, I'm still curious to see it.
This model feels like one of those throwaway one and done kits Bandai used to do quite often in the 90s- just a figure or two to gauge interest, and move on.
It's a pretty bare bones design. The arms feel a bit short and there isn't much heft to it internally. I thought the wrap around arm blades were a novelty, but the closed versions slide around a bit too much. Maybe I didn't attach them correctly?
I'm glad I own it, but I feel the Devolution one just puts Bandai's to shame.
Going to have to hunt around and see if there's any other 3rd party kits out there I haven't discovered yet... or maybe I'll try to talk my wife into getting me the chogokin for Valentine's Day!
