Game Info:
Rogue Flight is a breathtaking arcade space combat game inspired by the landmark style of 80's and 90's prestige anime. It is a well-made, perfectly-priced arcade-style 3D space action shooter that serves as an open love letter to 80’s and 90’s anime/shmup era fans, offering plenty nostalgia, throwback references and many hours of replay value. The game is set in a universe where humanity has nearly been wiped out by a defense AI system called ARGUS, which eventually turned on its creators and launched a series of orbital strikes.
The gameplay of Rogue Flight brings players back to the days of classic shooters of the 90s, with visuals, style, and narrative that feel like they are pulled straight from a classic anime movie. The game features a variety of game modes, including standard arcade and unlockable roguelite modes, which offer greater risks and even greater rewards. Players can customize their aircraft from over 100 unlockable liveries, as well as 24 badges with multiple color and style combinations, and customize their loadout from over 40 unlockable aero designs and 40 unlockable weapons from multiple classes with upgradable attributes.
Rogue Flight is available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game was released on October 24th for these platforms. The game has received positive reviews, with one review stating that it is a remarkable rail-shooter with a deep understanding of its inspiration, while also offering a fresh experience. Another review highlighted that the game is cool, like really cool, and that it is a throwback arcade action shooter with sheer style blazing out its engines.
The game's narrative centers around Nadia Sawas, the last living human with flight experience and the only logical pilot for the Arrow. With the guidance of Griffin, an ex-commander of the Solar Defence Force, and Mason, a doctor of orbital mechanics, Nadia undertakes a year of intensive simulation training before setting out on a desperate mission to save humanity. The game features a branching narrative path with multiple endings, and players can choose different routes that lead to various outcomes.
