Jin Sakai arrives at a survivor camp to meet with Sensei Ishikawa, who has been searching for his former student Tomoe. He is unable to find Ishikawa and asks a peasant for his whereabouts. The peasant tells Jin that Ishikawa headed out of the camp toward the coast. Heading east, Jin finds Ishikawa pinned down by a group of Mongol archers. Jin defeats the archers and runs over to a wounded Ishikawa. Just then, more archers arrive at the area, and Jin battles them while Ishikawa tends to his wound. After defeating the second round of archers, Jin expresses his surprise at how Ishikawa let so many enemies surround him. He attributes this to Ishikawa being so caught up in finding Tomoe.
The pair mount their horses and ride towards Tomoe's last known location: an archer training camp. Along the way, Ishikawa reveals why Tomoe had betrayed him even before the Mongols had arrived. Apparently, Tomoe had taught his teachings to a band of assassins; afterward, Ishikawa had attempted to kill Tomoe for doing so, despite her being his student. He advises Jin not to disappoint him as Tomoe has. Jin inquires about Tomoe's past before meeting Ishikawa, as he does not believe that she could have become a killer so easily. Ishikawa concurs, saying that Tomoe was born with a taste for bloodshed. While riding to the camp, the pair encounter several corpses shot dead by Tomoe and Mongol archers as target practice. Ishikawa states he will be the one to kill Tomoe, as he blames himself for teaching her how to kill.
Jin and Ishikawa arrive at the camp, but Tomoe is nowhere to be seen. They dispatch the enemies within the camp and search for clues about Tomoe's whereabouts. Jin finds a document that details Tomoe's plan to set up three more training camps in Otsuna, Kushi, and an undetermined location. He also finds Tomoe's letter to Khotun Khan in which she promises to deliver to him Jin's and Ishikawa's heads. Realizing the threat that Tomoe truly poses to Tsushima, Jin and Ishikawa make plans to track down the remaining camps and end Tomoe's treachery. Jin questions whether Ishikawa will be able to kill Tomoe when the time comes and Ishikawa asserts that he will be.
