Lady Sanjo invites Jin Sakai to join her for some tea, though admits that she only did so out of politeness. Having heard of his capabilities from Kenji, she asks Jin for his help in retrieving a map containing the location of food stores. She suspects that the map was stolen by a gambler hiding out near the Three Paths Well. Jin agrees to help, but questions if this is a trap. Lady Sanjo assures him otherwise and suggests that he never question her sincerity again.
Jin travels to the Three Paths Well and locates the gambler's hiding spot. The thief refuses to let him in, so Jin breaks in through a window and confronts the gambler. The man admits that he does not have the map and was ordered to lure Jin inside. Apparently, a group of ronin who had the map wanted to sell it. Just then, the ronin arrive and order Jin to come out. Jin confronts them and demands that they give him the map. They refuse, and Jin kills them all. He then returns the map to Lady Sanjo, who thanks him for his trouble and promises to use the map to feed the people of Toyotama.
