Ghost Recon remains my favorite Tactical Shooter ever. I've been playing it for 10 years and I still think its outstanding in the MILSIM realm. Alot of these GR elements inspire our missions at www.DCSWolfPack.org.
This is the original military hardcore simulation, before it turned into a something else. It is the basis for future MILSIMS like ARMA. Although it doesn't simulate bullet ballistics, and you cant repeal out of helos, its simplicity, ambient sounds like wind, crickets, water and absence of music make the game feel tense and realistic.
