GHOSTBUSTERS 2020 Official Paul Feig Reaction
News of a direct follow-up to Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989) was confirmed by Sony last week, with Jason Reitman confirmed as a writer and the director of the project. Original stars Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson hinted that they may be involved in the film, and a teaser trailer swiftly accompanied the news of the latest sequel. However, the announcement of the movie – known currently as ‘Ghostbusters 3′ – irked Leslie Jones, one of the stars from the 2016 all-female reboot of the franchise. Jones slammed the upcoming film as “so insulting” on Twitter, saying that a return to the ‘original’ universe was “a dick move” and “like something [Donald] Trump would do”.
Feig has now offered his view on the situation, saying that he supported Jones for speaking “her truth”. While clarifying that he was “very open” to Reitman’s new Ghostbusters, he admitted he was “sad that our 2016 team may not get to bust again. We all are.”
