Despite being published exclusively in the United States and Europe, Ghostbusters contains unused bootup code for the Japanese Sega Mark III, indicating a possible planned domestic release; however, such a release ultimately never materialized.

Sega would later contract development of the next title in the Ghostbusters series to Compile, resulting in the original 1990 Sega Mega Drive action platform game Ghostbusters.

Many many many many thanks to minotaurus for this longplay, here what he said about this game:
Once you understand how the game works it became easy.
Sections where you can capture ghosts are simpler than C64 version (and overall the game has a better playability).
Entering the zool is really easy with the right timing, much more than in the C64 version, where more precision is required.
Climbing the building is the most difficult part of the game, but once you understand ghosts patterns and how to neutralize blue discs throwing ghosts, you would reach the top in a blink.
The battle with Gorza is A LOT simple once you understand his pattern.

You can continue the game with all the cash you've earned, breaking the game since you can have so much power buying everything! are you a god? (quote)

This video is part of the videogame endings database, whose goal is to catalogue and create the world's largest archive of videogame endings! (what an humble and not ambitious project :D)
