As it already appears in the arcade flyer, LED stands for Lazer Enhanced Destruction, although there are no lasers in the game.

Many many many many many thanks to minotaurus, the emperor of C64 longplays :D
Here some notes written by his sacred hands:

Programmed by Stephen Ruddy (the same who ported Bubble Bobble on C64), with music by a 17 year old Tim Follin (with a clear homage to Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple, 1972)
Capcom produced at least two versions of the arcade with different intro sequences and important modifications to the gameplay.
The most common one, LED Storm (or Mad Gear) make you choose between three types of vehicles, with slightly different performances: Formula 1 cars, Porsche 959 and trucks.
Rally 2011 Led Storm version (dated 1988), also known as Led Storm Rally 2011, has only one vehicle with a more futuristic appearance, but on the other hand the player can transform it into a motorcycle and back; furthermore, the vehicles in this version can do smaller jumps.
Computers conversions are mainly based on the 2011 Rally version, although the motorcycle transformation is only possible on the Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64.

Ending has a small bug displaying the car, but we also have a fixed version, check here:    • LED Storm - Commodore 64 - ending

This video is part of the videogame endings database, whose goal is to catalogue and create the world's largest archive of videogame endings! (what an humble and not ambitious project :D)
