G.I. Joe the arcade game is very much like Devastators released in 1988, but it also has elements of Cabal and Blood Brothers. You can aim the cursor while you move forward which Devastator didn't have. The graphics style was very similar to Devastators. It was unique in its own way, because it was a four player game. If you had all four people playing, the difficulty of the game would go down greatly. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a 4 player game as well, and it was released 3 years earlier. That too was a Konami game, so Konami created a four player game before. In the late 1980s to the early 1990s, there were not that many four player games.
G.I. Joe was a cartoon T.V. show released in 1985, and anyone who grew up in the 1980s would know what this show was. The G.I. Joe franchise survived even to this day, and they released two movies in 2009 and 2013. The first being G.I. Joe the Rise of Cobra, and the 2nd being G.I. Joe Retaliation both movies were commercials successes. Another G.I. Joe movie is slated to be released in 2018 which will be another high budget Hollywood movie.
G.I. Joe the arcade game has all the major characters from G.I. Joe, like Destro, the Baroness, the Crimson Twins, and of course Cobra Commander. The game does live up to the G.I. Joe T.V. shows, and I thought it was a great game.
