The special Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home Franklin is a heartwarming, family-friendly short film that explains the backstory of Franklin Armstrong. The message of the film is something that anybody of any age can take away. If you grew up watching Snoopy, Charlie Brown, or are just in for a good treat, then sit back, relax, and enjoy this special.

Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home Franklin is about Franklin Armstrong (Caleb Bellavance) who is forced to move from place to place because of his dad’s military job. He has a book on how to make friends everywhere he goes and most of the time it works. But, when his plans don’t work out, Franklin doesn’t know what to do. According to the book people like winners, so when a soapbox derby race is coming to town, Franklin wants to win the town over. With the help from his new friend Snoopy (Etienne Kellici) Franklin learns different lessons throughout the film that could apply to everyone.

I enjoyed the real life comparisons that are in this special. For example, in one of the scenes, Franklin states that his uncle used to play in a Negro league and that he used to mentor Jackie Robinson, which is true. Robb Armstrong, who Franklin is named after, has an uncle who played in a Negro league and mentored Jackie Robinson. Something that I find very heartwarming is Franklin and Charlie Brown’s friendship. They don’t care about their differences and, even though everyone warns Franklin about Charlie, he doesn’t care. Because he is one of the most real friends he has ever had. Yes they may have their ups and downs, but all friendships do. My favorite scene in this special is the soapbox derby race. The scene is intense and it keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire scene.

The message of Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home Franklin is that you don’t have to be someone else so that other people will like you, you should just be yourself and people will like you for who you are. In the special, Franklin follows the book his grandfather gave him on how to make friends, but he soon learns that being yourself is the best thing you can do. This special is completely family-friendly.

I give Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home Franklin 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 12; families will also enjoy watching this together. This show comes out on Apple TV+ February 16, 2024. Be sure to check it out! https://youtu.be/_TBxwF7aRR0
