2Sydney S. reports from the 51st Annual Saturn Awards in Los Angeles. Here, films, actors, editors, directors, composers and more will be recognized for their excellence in bringing your screen to life. Come with me as I speak with the people who made your favorite films possible.
I spoke with the host of the show, Joel McHale! What an honor it was to meet him and let me just tell you, he is hilarious. His jokes make him the perfect host for this show.
Next, I spoke with Xolo Maridueña, who won Best Performance by a Younger Performer in a Film for Blue Beetle! You probably recognize him as Miguel from Cobra Kai, too. Xolo is one of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever met. He’s thoughtful and you can tell he has a passion for what he does. I am so grateful to have had such a meaningful conversation with him.
Moving on, I met the lovely Violet and Madeleine McGraw. Violet plays Cady in the horror movie M3GAN and Madeleine McGraw plays Gwen in The Black Phone. These two sisters are so passionate about their acting careers and are excited about what the future holds for them. It’s wonderful to see them so successful in the industry at such a young age!
Now, I moved over to speak with with Mimi Rogers, known for her role in Bosch Legacy. She has had many incredible journeys in her acting career.
I loved meeting Ginny Gardner, nominated for Best Indie Film. She plays Shiloh Hunter in the movie Fall. She hopes her stories are spreading a good message out to people.
I had the pleasure of meeting Chyler Leigh, who presented the Best Superhero Television Series award. Chyler plays Alex Danvers on the hit sci-fi series Supergirl. She’s an advocate on mental health issues and wants to contribute to more awareness to help the younger generation. Numerous awards were given. The Best Science Fiction Film was awarded to Avatar: The Way of Water. Director, James Cameron, won Best Film Direction. Best Superhero Film went to Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. Oppenheimer won Best Thriller Film and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse won Best Animated Film. Margot Robbie won Best Actress, Harrison Ford won Best Actor, Xolo Maridueña won Best Performance by a Younger Performer, Nicolas Cage won Best Supporting Actor, and Emily Blunt won Best Supporting Actress. Wow! What a show!
