Giving a GBA SP a Headphone Jack - Getting Unhinged Build Log Part 2
In this part, we're soldering in a 3.5mm headphone jack to the GBA SP's charge port, then getting the jack and the USB-C board taped down to the metal housing and routing the wires so they're not in the way of the motherboard.
In this build log series, I won't only be installing a working GBA SP system into the metal case, I'll be upgrading it with a Funny Pixel IPS V2 screen, a 1700mAh battery, USB-C charging capability, and giving it 3.5mm headphone jack support!
New components in the build:
Boxy GBA SP Unhinged V2 blue anodized aluminum case
Boxy GBA SP anodized aluminum buttons (clear/silver)
Funny Playing GBA SP IPS V2 screen with white screen cover (no logos) - 5 brightness levels + off
Boxy 1700mAh rechargeable battery
USB-C recharging. Does NOT support fast charging, only 5V power via USB-A to USB-C cables. Does NOT support charging while playing (this could damage the system).
3.5mm Headphone Jack. Supports standard stereo headphones only (no microphone headsets).
OEM Components:
AGS-001 motherboard (formerly from a red case)
Button silicone pads
Plastic trigger buttons
Game cartridge metal slide protector
Power switch cover (thinned to slide correctly in case)
Speaker
