This game is awesome and does SO much right while contemporaries get it wrong! Full cutscenes (I skipped them on this run for length and because I would not watch them again..)..has amazing weapons, diversity of playstyles & gameplay, feels really good, and albeit the AWFUL visibility in the first stage, has some really nice varied stage design. The checkpoints are super fair and let you power back up, CHECKPOINTS DONE RIGHT!?!? THIS EARLY IN THE GENRE!? FULL AUTO FIRE SO YOU DONT HAVE TO HOLD A BUTTON!?! I'm blown away. The voice samples are fuckin stylish too, the game looks gorgeous. plays well, great music... the only criticism is that it is slightly long and maybe the boss sprites themselves arent too inspired.... but the boss fights I've had prior to getting this really good run, some of them have been pretty spicy!
....looking at this run you might think that this was easy... it was not, right before this run I gameovered on the final boss and had only about 3 lives there, and today was the first time I made it to the very last phase.... but I am actually going out of town for a week and only had this one chance to clear this game.... and I was so close.
Definitely crushed it on this run tho :) enjoy.
